USPS Rationing

Seriously, how many times does the government have to succeed in running things into the ground before this country wakes up? The USPS is diving deeper into the red, financially, and what do they propose? Raising their prices, and cutting their services.
What would be done if the post office were being run by a private company? How would they get more business, more income? Possibly lowering prices, getting better at what they do, or creating more products and features that people want to buy?
Instead, their decision is to ration. That's right, RATION! I wonder what would happen if the healthcare system starts to lose money (if it were being run by the government - already the leader in denying services with Medicare and Medicaid.)
