Et tu Columbus?

Arizona Law

First it was L.A.  Next it was Seattle.  Now Columbus?

From Columbus Dispatch - "Mayor Michael B. Coleman has banned city workers from traveling to Arizona..." and "He agrees with those who want to send a message to the state of Arizona that this is not the American way."  Really?

I wonder if Mayor Coleman lives in a gated community.  I wonder if Mayor Coleman has a fence around his residence.  I wonder if Mayor Coleman has a lock on his door.  Oh the humanity.  How un-American of him.

Will the mayor's community leave the gate open and unguarded? Will he leave his fence door open and unguarded? Will he leave his house doors open and unguarded?  Then, when someone illegally enters his house, will he call the police?  When police get there and try to remove the intruder, will he tell them that what they are doing is "not the American way"?

I think we all know the answers to those questions.  So which is it?  Is the American way to support legal or illegal behavior?

Illegal behavior is still illegal if it isn't taking place in your own back yard.

Woody Allen Dictator Comment

From the L.A. Times:  Woody Allen would like Obama to become a Dictator for a few years.

How many times during the eight years of Bush's administration did we hear that GWB was trying to become a dictator?  How many conservatives ever called on Bush to become a dictator?

Mr. Allen, the constitution was written for people who think the way you think.  There is a reason that the powers of the government are supposed to be separated, and not in the hands of a single person.  There is a reason that one party can "get in the way" of another party.  Our founders were trying to prevent the formation of another tyranny in the world.

Woody, please go back and learn some history. I figured you, of all people, would know how dictatorships turn out. Specifically, go back and learn about the dictatorship of a guy named Adolf.

Where's the truth meter when you need it?

Crazy Claims

From his speech at Hampton University, Obama tells us the the modern day media (a.k.a. anything outside the liberal media) "...bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don't always rank all that high on the truth meter...".   Hey, at least he is admitting how much coverage the White House receives.  Talk about reporters needing to carry a truth meter!

He also pointed out to the students that "...some of the craziest claims can quickly claim traction..." from blogs and talk radio.  I'm sure he was thinking of the liberal blogs and all the liberal talk shows out there, oh wait, scratch that last one.

Then there is this little gem, "All of this is not only putting new pressures on you, it is putting new pressures on our country and on our democracy."  Wow, so talk radio, blogs, xbox, ipods, and playstations are pressuring our democracy now.

I wonder, was he playing video games during all those constitutional law classes during college?  Last time I checked, we had a REPUBLIC.  If we had a democracy, in which everyone got to vote on each law, we wouldn't be trying to dislodge that huge lump (socialized medicine) that got jammed down our throats earlier this year now would we?

I wonder when we are going to be told what we can play, what we can listen to, what blogs we can read, and which cartoons we are allowed to read (for the greater good and all)?  Can you say Net Neutrality?
